This collection of knowledge and dedication to the art has resulted in Bhai Gurmeet Singh Shant being one of the pillars of Gurmat Sangeet today and Giani Kishan Singh Ji’s wishes have definitely come true. Bhai Gurmeet Singh Shant also received the blessings and picked up many ‘Puratan’ compositions from Baba Sadhu Singh Ji and Bhai Bakshish Singh Ji. I was once told that Ustad Pardeep Singh Ji was like the ocean when it came to Sangeet, having the knowledge of a few thousand Raags. Then, he went on to learn from Ustad Pardeep Singh Ji who was the nephew of Giani Gian Singh Ji Almast. He first went under the guidance of Giani Chatur Singh, ‘dilruba wale’ who played the dilruba on All India Radio in Jalandhar. He received guidance from his father and he was also sent to learn from various other renowned figures in Gurmat Sangeet. Giani Kishan Singh Ji wished to see his son achieve great heights in the field of Gurmat Sangeet and with that in mind, Giani Ji started training him from a very young age. He was born on 13th April 1965 in the home of Giani Kishan Singh Shant and Mata Dalbir Kaur in the village Muchal, Amritsar. Bhai Gurmeet Singh Shant is currently the leading figure in the field of Gurmat Sangeet.
